  • Learning How to Avoid Thinking Fumbles

    May 20, 2015
    Sandy
As we rumble along at home and at work, there are all sorts of good and bad habits that we move in and out of. Eating too much or starting to exercise more can be fairly obvious events. But what about thinking errors? Those errors occur in our heads, and we may not even realize we are ...
  • How Junk Food Kills Our Much Needed Bacteria Fighters

    May 12, 2015
    Sandy
Most of us confess to occasionally driving through our favorite fast food spot to munch our way through a huge burger with a lot of fries. The dangers of saturated fats, artificial chemicals and extra sugars become mentally suspended, as we indulge. But new research says there are additional problems with our temporary lapses. British researchers ...
  • Why We Might Need To Permanently Delete the Word “Sorry”

    May 5, 2015
    Sandy
The word “sorry” seems to be turning into such a commonplace, one size fits all, excuse word, that it barely registers at all anymore. In the market, people say sorry as they barge in front of you, reach around you to grab something off the shelf, or bang into your cart as they surge forward. Other ...
  • Ever Feel Like No One Understands You?

    April 28, 2015
    Sandy
This morning, as I turned on Charlie Rose’s Morning News, Heidi Halvorson, from Columbia Business School, explained her new book, “No One Understands You and What to Do About It.” Of course it happens to all of us. A co-worker may seem thoughtlessly rude.  A friend may sound uncaring and distant. A family member may seem ...

If you have ever trained a kitten to a litterbox, you know a bit about habits. But what most of us do not consider is the sheer weight of the habits that we all carry around and how much of our life is spent following them. Kids, teens, adults, and seniors all spin out habits ...
  • Are You Listening? Really?

    April 20, 2015
    Sandy
That sounds like a question, you might overhear as one person snaps at another? But if you look around, it might apply to everybody that you see. Who’s listening, really? We all know the drill in meetings – sit up straight, put your phone on vibrate, and watch the speaker as you “listen.” If the speaker is ...
  • Ready to Meditate? Try the Spot You Love Most

    April 6, 2015
    Sandy
Sometimes meditation does not seem as friendly or welcoming as it should be. Sometimes it seems like a separate discipline to master. But Lifescript’s recent article on five minute meditations points out how meditation can be wherever we find it, if it works for us, letting us relax and focus on the moment. Right now for me, ...

  • Wish Your Workplace Also Doubled As a Gym ?

    March 24, 2015

That might be more feasible than you think. Why not pick a few that you like and break them out whenever your brain is feeling fuzzy ...
